Tour by the lines of defence of 64th Army in Stalingrad. Interrogation of F. Paulus (5 hours)
The first place to see is Beketovka town where you will visit a house in which HQ’s of 64th Army situated in 1943. The house which has become the witness of General Field Marshall Friedrich Paulus interrogation survived the war and today is one of the main sights of the region. It was this place where Friedrich Paulus was delivered right after him being captured in Stalingrad in Univermag department store.
Afterwards, your guide and the driver will accompany you along the lines of defence of 64th Soviet Army. Among other sights and memorials, you will visit Beketovka train station. It was the first place in Stalingrad that saw the peaceful life of the city having come to an end. The tour will also cover the history of Saint Nicholas Cathedral, the only one cathedral survived the battle of Stalingrad and Beketovka POWs camp №108.
Then you will have an opportunity to see the stela in place of the auxiliary command post of 64th Army, Stalingrad Power Station that is the largest in Europe, one of the tank turrets, located in different parts of the city. The one you are going to see is the most southern one and it is located on the line of defense of 64th Army.
The last stop of your tour is Lysaya Gora Height Memorial. In 1942 it was one of the aims of the German Army who sought to take main heights over the city. That is why fights that took place here were as fierce as those on Mamayev Kurgan. Traces of these fights can be seen here even today.
