Verkhoyansk Winter Tour
The city of Verkhoyansk is located in the north-eastern part of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). It was founded in 1638 by Russian Cossacks and initially served as a remote place for Siberian exile.
Fly to Batagay. Stay 2 full days in Verkhoyansky District and travel through the coldest places on Earth. Come back to Yakutsk on the 4th day.

Transfer from hotel to Yakutsk Airport. Flight Yakutsk to Batagay (departure at 07:20, arrival at 09:55, distance 670 km, flight time is 1 hr 35 min). Transfer from Batagay Airport to a guest house in Batagay, 5 km. Check-in a guest house (single/twin rooms with bathrooms, shared kitchen). Lunch. Excursion across the town and its outskirts (with the use of a Russian UAZ vehicle). Dinner. Free time. Rest.
Breakfast at a guest house. 09:00 – 11:00 – Road trip by a Russian UAZ van to Verkhoyansk, 71 km, with stops for photo sessions. 11:00 – 12:00 – Driving around Verkhoyansk. Photo session at remarkable places, including the “Verkhoyansk” sign and the bank of the Yana River. 12:00 – 14:00 – Lunch at cafe. 14:00 – 15:00 – Visit to Museum of History. 15:00 – 16:00 – Driving back to Batagay. 18:00 – Dinner. Free time. Overnight in a guest house in Batagay.
Breakfast at a guest house. 09:00 – 10:30 – Driving by a Russian UAZ van to Betenkes village, 50 km. With stops en route, especially at the Shaman Tree place with a view from the top of mountain pass. 11:00 – 14:00 – Time in a Yakut traditional village. A chance to drive throughout the settlement on a snowmobile, which is commonly used instead of a car. Lunch at family’s. 13:00 – 17:00 – Trip to the Yakutian horse breeding farm. Distance from Betenkes to the farm is 10 km. Activities with Yakutian horses including rides on horses or sleigh. Yakutian horse is a Siberian breed. Accustomed to live in the conditions of extreme cold weather. 17:00 – 18:00 – Way back to Batagay. 19:00 – Sauna. Farewell Dinner. Free time. Overnight in a guest house in Batagay.
Transfer to Batagay Airport. Flight to Yakutsk (departure at 11:55, arrival at 12:45.) Transfer from Yakutsk Airport to hotel in Yakutsk. Half a day with your guide in Yakutsk, without transport.

Required to bring:
Warm clothes. They are thermo underwears, wooly or thermo sweaters, scarf, Arctic versions of pants and parkas from such brands as The North Face or Canada Goose, hats, boots, gloves. Fur hats and fur boots might be bought in Yakutsk.
Some clothes might be provided for rental at additional cost.
